Covid-19 Relief Funds for Undocumented Families and Individuals in the Bay Area

Everyday in the Bay Area, immigrant and undocumented families face financial challenges such as paying for basic needs including rent, food and clothing. These challenges also include finding work and the high cost of legal representation. Now during the COVID-19 health crisis and shelter in place, the challenges these families have already been facing are now amplified.

At The Women’s Building we are doing our best to connect these families to the resources they need to survive, but there is still a huge financial burden. Undocumented families have been excluded from many of the public benefits and relief funds. Even for the few that receive that extra help it is not enough to cover the expenses associated with living in San Francisco.

We need your help! We are raising $20,000 to create a fund to provide much needed financial assistance to these families in need!

Your support will go directly to recently reunified families through our Family Reunification Program and families in San Francisco that are struggling to make ends meet that we serve in our Community Resource Programs. Here are just some of the areas that your funds will be used for:

  • Paying a portion of their rent. Although the city is extending the rent protections, many of our families are not on the lease as they share housing with multiple households which makes it difficult to get the same protections.
  • Paying for legal representation. As many community members are out of work due to COVID-19, they are no longer able to pay for portion legal representation and documentation.
  • Paying for basic necessities. The cost of living in San Francisco is high and with no work or financial assistance, our community members are unable to pay for basic necessities.
